'LOVELY EYES PHOTO SERIES' JULIAN ASTUDILLO X ROSELYNE PRIETO

It's finally here. The 'Lovely Eyes Photo Series' is available to view [and soon you'll be able to purchase this series as well] right here on www.julianastudillo.com! After collaborating with Roselyne Prieto (Photographer) and a lot of hard work, the Lovely Eyes photos are nothing short of magnificent. Or better yet, let's call this series 'Freakishly Exquisite'. The appeal and meaning go hand in hand with each other. We usually associate the word "lovely" with things that are sweet, charming, and comfortable. While there is a sense of sweetness in a few of these photos, there is darkness behind the eyes. Darkness (naturally found within human life) is usually chaotic and riveting, but even more so... 'invisible' in the modern age. There are many blank and emotionless eyes on the face of Julian, and these represent a general and sedated connection with humans. They could be any expression that is the equivalent to glossing over the reality that life is not always rainbows and unicorns. They represent a mask that we as humans wear almost all of the time. And of course, Glamour, Divine Masculinity, and Divine Femininity also play a role in this series. But the meaning of the darkness, is up to you to decide.

JULIAN GUEST STARS ON 'POP TRIGGER' APRIL 2016

M.I.A "Rewear It" Music Video With H&M Tackles The Environment (click to play)

M.I.A "Rewear It" Video discussion with Samantha Schacher, Grace Baldridge, and Brett Erlich. In April 2016 Julian guest starred on 5 episodes of pop trigger. This episode in particular is focused on music artist MIA's music video collaboration with popular fashion brand H&M to bring more awareness to how recycling our everyday clothing can help reduce the effects of environmental damage. The video starts off with the cast discussing their thoughts and opinions. While talking about the campaign, Brett Erlich states "As they minimize their cost, the people's working condition's as Julian brought up go lower."

Julian responds: "That's what my five words had to do with. Have you guys ever heard of the 'The True Cost'? It's a documentary on Netflix. And That's why I brought that up, because their working conditions are so bad. You know, you're campaigning "oh, let's recycle and 'rewear it' so we don't have to waste this material." So they're trying to be like "look at the good cause we're doing" but then behind closed doors are you still fixing problems that exist in your company? Maybe this is me being bitter, but it seems like they're kind of using it to say "we're not as bad as you think we are."

Grace then adds, "I think it's about sort of celebrating the small steps and then still acknowledging that we have a long way to go." She concludes, "whatever you can do can only be beneficial, and why not celebrate it? But still acknowledge that we all could be more educated and there's still a lot more to be done. Let's not get complacent, but let's also not 'not celebrate'."

JULIAN TAKES OVER POP TRIGGER 2014

PART II (click to play)

In 2014 I was invited to host a two-part episode on the hit YouTube show Pop Trigger! Apparently they had never asked someone to host (they usually invite people to guest star on their show) so I thought it was pretty cool. The show is hosted by Samantha Schacher, Brett Erlich (and former co-host Bree Essrig). It centers around pop culture and everything that happens in this crazy world of ours. Watch as we talk about everything ranging from Justin Bieber, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Bree fake pooping herself on camera.
